The application process opens in Autumn for one month, typically from late September to late October each year. Bursaries are awarded 4-6 weeks after the closing date. Athletes and Coaches must apply directly using our online forms. Stay tuned to our social media for details of when applications open and for other updates. No other application methods are accepted.
Yes. Applicants must be based in the UK and licensed as athletes or coaches to one of the home countries governing bodies (Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland or England).
The selection process occurs two weeks after the application deadline. The Bursary Committee reviews and discusses each applicant, and within the following four weeks, we notify all applicants of the outcome.
If your application is successful, four weeks after the deadline you will receive an email to the address you entered on the application form, requesting your bank details for direct payment of the Bursary. If your application is unsuccessful and no LCB Grant is awarded, we will inform you via email within the same timescale.
No, your application’s success is not determined by your athlete ranking or the rankings of athletes you coach. Instead, it relies on your application’s content, demonstrating your dedication to athletic development and the specific needs you address.
Each year is a clean slate. You can reapply for the Lloyd Cowan Bursary even if you have or have not received one before. Past receipt of a Bursary does not guarantee future success in the application process.
