“I’ve always wanted to give back to the sport that has given me so much. Joining the Lloyd Cowan Bursary as a Trustee felt like a meaningful way to do that.” ~ Sophie Hahn MBE
Lloyd Cowan Bursary is delighted to announce the appointment of Sophie Hahn MBE as a Trustee.
Sophie is one of Britain’s most accomplished para-athletes. A two-time Paralympic Champion, seven-time World Champion, Commonwealth Champion and former world record holder, she has been a leading figure in T38 sprinting for over a decade.
Sophie first met Lloyd Cowan in her mid-teens, at the very start of her athletics journey. His belief in her potential, and the positive environment he created around the track, left a lasting impression. Athletics quickly became a place where Sophie’s confidence and ambition could grow.
Across her career, Sophie has combined elite performance with a growing commitment to improving the sport for others. Now entering her 13th season, she remains focused on competing at the highest level while also championing progress, opportunity and representation within para-athletics. Sophie says:
“I became an elite athlete at 16, and my journey has been full of highs and lows. Athletics pushed me beyond my comfort zone, introduced me to inspiring people, and helped build up my confidence and resilience along the way.
“When the opportunity arose to join the Lloyd Cowan Bursary as a Trustee, I saw it as a chance to make a real difference in para-athletics. I’m proud to be part of a team continuing Lloyd’s passion for supporting young athletes.”
As a Trustee of the Lloyd Cowan Bursary, Sophie will play an active role in supporting emerging para-athletes and their coaches, helping to widen access to opportunity and strengthen pathways into the sport. Her appointment reflects a shared commitment to continuing Lloyd Cowan’s legacy of excellence, generosity and belief in people.
We are excited to welcome Sophie to the Board and look forward to the contribution she will make.
